Sarah, my youngest daughter, here age nine, is testing the waters. We’re observing our long-running family tradition
of a picnic dinner (KFC) at the lake. Before the food can even be staged, Sarah’s in up to her knees. It’s early fall
and the water is rapidly venting its summer warmth. She decides tochicken out (excuse the pun) and try again after eating.
With a little goading, her  second try is successful, and she even manages to tempt me in as well.   Mark Heine
