My daughter Sarah and her friend Mia push the boundaries of a flooding tide. They probe the
depth of water, now surrounding their small island refuge, just off the beach. It’s a warm, lazy
afternoon in August 2008. The water is chilly and rapidly growing too deep for comfort. Time to
finally surrender and head for higher ground.   Mark Heine
