Tiny Frank Island is accessible only at low tide, from Chesterman Beach, near Tofino, on the west coast of
Vancouver Island, in B.C., Canada. The falling tide leaves bullhead-, anemone- and crab-infested tide pools
that slowly drain through these shallow beach streams. I lived in a beach cabin near here for one winter 20
years ago. The storms that battered this small rock were fierce. I would often sit and watch the relentless
