Sarah, my youngest daughter, age 11 and I are out for our very first bike ride together. Not just a scenic tour,
we have a somber purpose. We’ve stopped at Bowker Creak, in Oak Bay, Victoria, B.C. Here Sarah releases the X-pet
tad-poles we’d collected on a recent family holiday to the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Alas the poor tads did not survive,
but in the weeks we’ve had to observed them, we learned a lot about their fragile life cycle and the environment.
